Definition
Live chat is a web software solution that allows webmasters to conduct real-time interactive conversations with website visitors whilst they are browsing. The software normally delivers a chat window for text messaging, though some solutions also offer 1 or 2 way video chat functionality. Live chat is commonly used for a variety of purposes including customer service (e.g. problem resolution), customer acquisition, broadcast messaging and obtaining customer feedback.
